Behind The Cover
Nicole Kidman’s work in film extends far beyond her performances on screen. As a producer, she takes an active role in shaping the stories being told, the creative teams behind them, and the opportunities those stories create.
“Many times I ask myself, is this story entertaining enough? Or is it gonna say something? Or is it gonna give the opportunity for women to have a great role? Or is it gonna be an interesting new voice in cinema that can be heard?”
That same sense of purpose carried into this shoot.
For MJ, bringing a project like this to life is about more than production. It is about understanding the creative vision, building the right team around it, scouting locations that feel both cinematic and seamless, and creating an on-set experience where artists, talent, and crew can do their best work.
With photography by Sean Thomas and legendary stylist Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, from Vogue China, the project brought together an exceptional group of creatives, collaborators, and production partners across fashion, photography, and visual storytelling.
Behind the final images was a carefully orchestrated process — from assembling the perfect crew to finding the right location, managing the pace and flow of the day, and cultivating the kind of calm, elevated energy that makes a set feel effortless. That is where MJ’s expertise lives: in the details, the relationships, and the ability to create an environment where the work can shine.
The final cover reflects the care and perspective of everyone involved — from performance and styling to photography, production, location, and the energy on set.
Kidman has also spoken about the value of staying open, continuing to evolve, and approaching each new chapter with curiosity.
“I really don’t think about age. Life is constantly evolving and changing. I feel that if you just fixate on aging, you end up setting too many boundaries for yourself. It’s much better to just keep trying things, keep up with the times, be brave, and stay excited for whatever is coming next.”
In that spirit, the shoot reflects creative evolution, collaboration, and the power of stories to create space for women, new voices, and what comes next.
